Sub-National Biophysical Forest Indicators for Sustainable Forest Management and Revenue Sharing in Nepal
The forest type map is jointly developed by the Forest Research and Training Centre (FRTC) and International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) with financial support from the World Bank under the "Sub-National Biophysical Forest Indicators for Sustainable Forest Management and Revenue Sharing in Nepal" project.
The dataset have been prepared using freely available remote-sensing data (Sentinel 2) and a cloud-based machine learning algorithm in the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform.
This application allows interactive visualization of forest type dataset along with other datasets described below:
Forest type: major forest types (25 classes) of Nepal
Tree canopy cover (TCC): tree canopy cover percentage in each pixel.
Tree canopy height (TCH): tree canopy height (in metre) in each pixel.
Patch density (PD): no. of forest patchs per 100 hactres.
Largest patch density (LPD): largest forest patch within the given area in percent.
Users can select country, province, district or gapanapa (rural or urban municipality) to visualize corresponding charts of forest type distribution and average tree canopy cover and tree canopy height.
